Houston, Texas May 5, 2011 – In continuation with their commitment to serve the community, Arandas Bakery opened it’s doors to welcome four and five year old students from Space Center Family Education.  During their 90 minute visit, students learned the art of baking. 16 students participated in this exciting opportunity to go behind the scenes and learn the baking process from start to finish.  “The kids were so excited to learn how their favorite treats are made. Now they get to go home and share their experience with their friends and family,” said Audrey Krishnan, one of the parents who attended the visit. “Teaching children about real life and a variety of careers and jobs at an early age opens up their minds to many opportunities in the future” commented Judy Camarena, President of Arandas Franchises, Inc.  “We love kids and are thrilled to expose them to the art of baking and cake decorating. Children can learn anything and we definitely support the idea of entrepreneurship and diversity in career choices,” continued Camarena. In addition to their visit, the kids took home a bag with baked goods and later enjoyed lunch from the Kids Menu at Taquerias Arandas. The next field trip scheduled for May 20th, when children from Robert Crippen Elementary will visit Arandas Bakery. During their visit, Arandas Bakery will have moonwalks, an appearance from our mascot and lunch provided by Taquerias Arandas.  Schools interested in visiting any of the Arandas Bakery locations, can call 713-691-3373.

Thank you so much for everything you all did today! The kids had a blast and so did the adults :) Words can't express how happy and memorable this field trip is for our students. I don't know if I told you this in the past or not but our school is a Title 1 school. This means that over 80% of our kids are on free or reduced lunch. This field trip was so special to them.

Because they are low income they rarely get this type of experience. Thank you for showing them that working in a bakery is just as rewarding as doing manual labor. I promise that it was an eye-opening and instructive day for them. Today you and everyone who came out to help made us all feel extra special! It's moments like these that help give me focus and hope for our education system. I speak for all my co-workers when I say that we are humbled and amazed at the generosity you all displayed today. I even told my husband that we felt like we were on top of the world! If your generosity is any measure of Arandas' success, I can only see a bright future. Thank you again, for absolutely everything. Let's keep in touch! God bless you all.

Erika
